The Great Invitation

The Great Invitation

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me,
for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus invites everyone to come to Him — ‘come unto me, all ye that labour’. He wants everyone to come — not just the ‘good’ or the ‘nice’ or the simple. But everyone – the rich, the poor, the destitute, the tall, the short, the athletes, the teachers, the professionals, the politicians, the lawyers, the students, the children, the aged, the peasants, the shakers-and-the-movers. He wants the happy, the depressed, the lonely, the popular, the successful ones, the failures, the simple, the complicated, the mentally disturbed, the physically abused, and the healthy to come to Him.

He came to seek and save that which is lost! God is reconciling the world to Himself!

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:
we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20

God is beseeching you to be at peace with Him!

Do you ever think about heaven? Would you consider yourself good enough to get there? Have you heard of the Ten Commandments? Have you kept them? Ever told a lie? Or stolen anything? Ever taken God’s name in vain? Ever looked with lust?
If you said “yes” to of any of these will you be innocent or guilty on the Day of Judgment? Listen to your conscience. Will you gain eternal life or face God’s righteous judgment?
It’s not God’s will that any perish; that’s why He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to live the only sinless life to redeem us. He took God’s wrath and the punishment for your sin-
we broke God’s law; Jesus paid the fine!

Believe the Scriptures by faith w/o works (Romans 4:5)- trust in Him alone as your Savior and Lord, (believe His Words, what He did and that He is GodJohn 3:16-18, 3:36, 4:42, 5:24, 6:29, 6:68-69, 8:24,10:37-38, 20:28-31); repent (Ezekiel 14:6- turn away from idols and turn to God); and He’ll grant you everlasting life! Read the Bible every day and obey what you read (John 14:21).

For He is the Lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world!

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
— 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world,
and lose his own soul? –- Mark 8:36
